Responsible Parenting In Motion

The Adolescent Parenting Program is a SCS collaborative program for pregnant and parenting students. Our goal is to provide comprehensive services to ensure that students make progress toward personal development, responsible parenting, graduation, and post secondary education. Through this program, the resources of several agencies are combined to provide educational, health, and mental health services. SCS, SCS Mental Health Center, the Memphis-Shelby Health Department, the Department of Human Services, Methodist-LeBonheur Hospitals, and Porter-Leath Children’s Center are our collaborators.

The Adolescent Parenting Program is currently located at 205 N. Claybrook, and the program serves young ladies in grades 9-12. Both academic and vocational courses are offered as well as classes in Teen Parenting. The facility houses a licensed childcare center, which is a learning lab for the students attending the program. Six-week old infants to 3-year-old toddlers are cared for in a warm and inviting environment with certified childcare teachers. A full time nurse is also available for students and their babies.

If space allows, any SCS young lady who is pregnant or parenting is eligible to attend the Adolescent Parenting Program. We invite you to call (901) 416-6321 or (901) 416-4412 for additional information.
